Meet Deita and the dingoes.

Beyond the Backyard

Three cattle dogs. Two humans. One RV. Endless adventures.

After spending over 20 years in the restaurant industry, Deita and her husband, Jon, decided it was finally time to chase the thing they always wanted: stay healthy and adventure with her pups.

They stopped drinking, moved out of their busy town, and moved into an RV full-time, wheels pointed toward open water.

Get to know the pack.

Leyla. The queen, and Deita's OG soul dog. Sixteen years old and still the kindest soul in the crew. She keeps the peace, never throws her weight around, and is always first in line for snuggles.

Jerry. Thirteen, blind, and completely unstoppable. He lost his sight to glaucoma and didn't lose a thing else. You'll find him riding shotgun at the front of the paddleboard, every single time. As Deita puts it, nothing holds him back.

Keena. The official troublemaker, and a proud foster fail. Eight years old, full of personality, and never one to miss out on the fun. She steals treats, toys, and the spotlight, and she would not have it any other way.

Paddleboarding with the Pack

The springs of Citrus County, Florida are pure magic. And this past winter, Deita and the crew paddled right into the middle of a moment most people only dream about.

"This winter we had a couple of amazing paddle trips where there were hundreds of manatees around us. Truly incredible."

-Deita, @deitaandthedingoes

Deita got Leyla and Jerry on the water 12 years ago, back when they first moved to Florida. She taught them on land first, then added water, one short paddle at a time, with plenty of high-reward treats along the way.

By the time Keena came along, the other two were pros. Keena took one look and decided she was in. She fearlessly leaped onto the board, and now the water is the whole pack’s favorite place to be.
