Privacy Policy

According to our over-dressed and uptight legal counsel, we're required to issue a fancy and legal-jargon-infused privacy policy. Our stance on privacy, however, is far simpler than the legalese that our attorneys drafted (below). It’s simply this: The entire DOG iD team and I place a great value on our own personal privacy and security. We believe that your personal information is just as important as our own. And, it is our duty to protect it. So, we absolutely refuse to share your personal information with any unauthorized business, organization, or individual. Seriously. We promise.

Edward Wimmer IV
Co-Founder, CEO

DOG iD recognizes, respects, and protects the personal privacy rights of all of our customers and visitors. We realize that our customers entrust us with non-public personal information and it is our obligation and policy to maintain this information in a confidential manner. We are committed to providing the highest level of security and privacy regarding the maintenance and use of every customer's personal information. The following Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from any of our websites, connect with us via email, or use the DOG iD App (collectively the “Site”).

When you visit one of our sites or use our app, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information”.

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:
- “Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit
- “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
- “Web beacons”, “tags”, and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site.

Additionally when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information, email address, and phone number. We refer to this information as “Order Information”.

Lastly, if you order an ID as part of your purchase, we will also collect the information that you ask us to engrave on your ID. We call this “ID Information.” We use this solely for the fulfillment of your order and to facilitate re-ordering. We will never never sell, disclose, or share ID Information with any 3rd party for any reason.

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information. We are not talking about ID Information.

We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this Order Information to:
- Communicate with you
- Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

We only share your Personal Information with third parties that help us perform the actions described above. For example, we use Shopify to power our online store--you can read more about how Shopify uses your Personal Information here: We also use Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site -- you can read more about how Google uses your Personal Information here: You can also opt-out of Google Analytics here:

DOG iD may require you to match at least two or three pieces of personal information we have previously collected from you before granting you access to, or erasing, specific pieces, or categories of, personal information, or otherwise responding to your request. We may require written documentation that demonstrates a third party is authorized to serve as your agent for the purposes of submitting the requests set forth herein.
When you place an order through the Site, we will maintain your Order Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.

If you purchase an Online Profile for your ID (formerly known as an “Interactive ID”) and use the Emergency Response System , you will decide which personal information to supply in your Online Profile. Access to this information is granted to anyone that supplies the unique serial number and pin combination that is engraved on the back of your DOG iD. Accordingly, we urge you to protect the security of your Online Profile by safeguarding the unique serial number and pin on your ID(s). Only provide these numbers to persons or entities who have a legitimate need to access your profile. In an emergency, any First Responder that has access to the back of your ID can use the serial number and pin to access your profile.

Our commitment to preserving the security and confidentiality of personal information applies to our former, current, and future customers. This commitment extends to any contact that is supplied by you on a DOG iD, in an Online Profile or via the DOG iD App. We never market to, or connect with, any contact you supply unless explicitly instructed to do so by you.

DOG iD uses industry standard, 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to securely transmit personal information such as your name, address and credit card number. We utilize numerous online security, encryption, hashing and site verification services and techniques to ensure the security of our websites and databases. We store certain data in a highly-secured encrypted format. An industry-leading service regularly scans our sites for vulnerabilities. Our sites are also registered with identification authorities so that your browser can confirm DOG iD's identity before you transmit any personal information. Disclaimer: We take the security of your data very seriously and are fully committed to protecting your personal information. Please be aware, however, that no security measures can guarantee perfect security.
