Let me start by saying this issue is so exciting because it happens to be National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day! How perfect!
I’ve decided to grab some of the best content I could find about our beloved shelter pets and make a whole issue out of it. Shelter pets have a special place in my heart, I actually never really knew anyone with a dog from anywhere else until I was in my late teens. This one’s for the shelter dogs I’ve loved over the years. ❤️
Dogs Run the World
All dogs deserve love! This is exactly what dog trainer Wesley Swainston does by taking shelter dogs on much-needed adventures mixed with some training. Definitely one of the coolest things I’ve found since I’ve started writing Dogs Are People Too.
Wesley in Action
Wesley has both an Instagram and a Tik Tok account that you can follow, but I wanted to draw attention to this video in particular. This is Wesley in action selecting dogs from the shelter to go on runs with. My personal favorite is Suki, she’s trying her best.
Tips on Adopting
If you’re in the market for a new best friend, I suggest checking out our blog all about adopting a pet from the shelter. It doesn’t hurt to be extra prepared!
Don’t forget to check your local animal shelter for any supplies they may need! Some donations they welcome include: food, blankets, toys, and soap. The shelter of your choice may even have a wishlist available on their social media.
